With Singapore ranking in the top 10 cleanest countries in the world, there is a need to develop her into being ecologically ‘clean’ as well. Taking the steps to be more environment-friendly business wise is a good start. Considering the increasing number of businesses in Singapore, choosing to go green with its ventures would make a great difference towards being eco-friendly. Understanding that dollars and cents are still the basis of what deems as successful for an organisation, consumers today are influenced by manufacturers who practice eco-friendly policies and in turn maintain good corporate social responsibilities. This undeniable benefit has paved the way for organisations to adopt green practices at a faster-than-ever pace.
While there may be some who are unsure where to start, it is critical to have the right team for such assistance. At Eco-Space (S) Pte Ltd, they are equipped with the latest technologies devoted to provide green solutions to organisations in search of sustainability. This is done with the commitment from its team of talented and dedicated individuals known as Eco-Spacers. Strategies are put together to reduce carbon emission, material choices as well as energy and water- efficiency adaptations are taken into consideration for re-assessments for better resources- efficiency. The birth of Eco-Space was to make an impact on the environment; and more importantly on bringing change to one’s mind-set regarding it. Just like they were in 2012, today they are still determined to protect the world we live in, and keep plastics free from floating around without an end to its life.
While Eco-Space has managed to achieve this far, it was certainly not an easy road to success. To start with, a client’s general perception that going eco-friendly means going cheap. This however is something that many find a mystery because people tend to perceive that going ‘green’ is a ‘cheaper alternative’. On the contrary, going ‘green’ is not a cheap process but despite this, they try their best to make this effort accessible and affordable for their clients. As their services are not offered by many in the market, people are generally unaware of the availability of the nature of such services. Word-of-mouth has proved to be one of the more effective ways of scoring more businesses as their network spans across different industries.
Eco-Space has come a long way and did an outstanding job in managing to create a niche for themselves in this trade. Yet is it very important to individualise Eco-Space in order for them to maintain their uniqueness from their competitors. Being constantly innovative and reinventing themselves are what they do to keep themselves ahead of the rest. Along with those, formulating and sharing knowledge with their clients keep them ahead in the game. On the other hand, as there are not very many organisations that offer the same services as theirs, it makes them the pioneers of this trade.
To be the head in the trade is definitely what every organisation aims to be. Looking at the achievements Eco-Space has attained within a span of a few years, their ethics and determination marks them as a successful organisation. They actively participate in both local and international trade shows, organise symposiums and host networking events to ensure that they keep abreast with the current trends and technologies. This is also a platform for them to educate the public the importance of sustainability. They have also attained the Singapore Green Building Council stamp of approval for their products – something that they are very proud of.
Nurul shared that it takes actions to be where they are today. It does not just happen to people; but requires passion for what one sets out to do or is doing, the correct qualities and attitude – perseverance, commitment, respect and loyalty, and also to keep an open communication with everyone within the organisation. She believes that the support from her team members is the key reason as to where they are standing today.
When asked what the motivation behind the success of Eco-Space was, Nurul shared that it has always been her father’s intention and dream to give back to the society. By providing green solutions, materials and products, Eco-Space aims to make the world a better and cleaner place to live in. More importantly, it is about preserving what is left in our dear Earth now before it is too late. Nurul shared that she is heavily inspired by an unknown quote: “I don’t want to protect the environment. I want to create a world where the environment does not need protection.” With a base in Brazil, Eco-Space is not only making changes in this island, or region, but they also sought for opportunities far and wide. In essence, Nurul shared that she aims to make a reality of what Professor Wangari Maathai once said: “You cannot protect the environment unless you empower people, you inform them and you help them understand that these resources are their own, that they must protect them.”
Although Eco-Space has grown from strength to strength, they are still set to soar higher.
