Mr. Michael Tan
No commercial business or brand is complete without its storefront sign. Signage can be viewed as the face of a business. In a world where first impressions mean everything, businesses need a signage manufacturer that can provide quality products while distilling their brand identity. One company that embodies this belief is The Signmakers International Pte Ltd, a veteran when it comes to local signage manufacturing.
Over the past decade, Signmakers has proved itself as a leader in the industry, earning the respect and confidence of its clients to service their signage needs. With their managing director, Michael Tan, at the helm, Signmakers maintains the highest standards and has developed a reputation of honesty and trustworthiness. They take pride in being able to provide their clients with industry leading levels of service and support to increase exposure of their company.
With 17 years of experience under their belt, Signmakers is nowhere near being dated in the services they provide. Under the supervision of Tan, Signmakers has consistently been bettering their services since its start in 1996. Their extensive range of sign technology capabilities includes neon and LED lighting, 3D lettering in aluminium, brass and stainless steel, commercial displays, plastic signs, and sky signs, among others. The IKEA sign at the Tampines outlet, the Abbott sign at Tuas, and the MaxAtria sign at Singapore Expo Centre are some of the many projects undertaken by Signmakers.
Signmakers has made great progress over the years but its success did not come without challenges. Fresh out of the army, Tan and his partner embarked on a new business venture, Intext Neon & Signcraft. The seven years Tan spent there honed his business and management skills, and signage manufacturing knowledge.
After the partnership ran its course, Tan started Signmakers, this time with more experienceunder his cap. Like many other entrepreneurships, Signmakers had constraints with working capital and struggled in its early years to find its groove. Tan’s determination and foresight to see his business prosper motivated him to push through even when projects seemed impossible and working hours ran long.
Signmakers has come a long way from its humble beginnings to become a reputable, professional sign provider in the Asia-Pacific region. Today, it offers its expertise and services not only to local clients but also to clients in the United Kingdom and the United States of America.
For the aspiring young entrepreneur, Tan has these words of advice, “Identify your true passion and find a niche. Once you’ve got that, do your research. Evaluate its potential, market value, viability and returns, and ensure that you have enough funds to sustain your startup process. Most importantly have faith and determination because that will be your fuel in the early years where hard work, long hours and disappointments are almost inevitable. In the long run, your commitment and dedication can only see you succeed.”
